FB Audience Narrow-By Guide 1.0
I pulled Meta's own audience estimates through the Facebook API for 406 pairs of the interests romance authors target, and worked out how much each one really overlaps the others. The takeaway: narrowing your audience by another book interest — E-books, Kindle, Fiction — barely filters anyone, because those interests are near-universal among romance readers. To actually carve out a different, testable pocket, you have to step outside the book world. Pick your main interest below to see what's worth testing, what's just a tighter slice of the same genre, and what does nothing at all. These are test candidates, not guaranteed winners — the data says they're genuinely different people; your ads tell you if they're better ones.
These are suggestions, not tested winners.
I pulled the overlap math from Facebook’s own data —
I have not personally run most of these combos.
Treat every pick as a test worth trying, not a guarantee.
Bar = how much of your audience is left after you Narrow By each interest.
Short bar = it actually filtered.
Long bar = it did almost nothing.
Meta’s own modelled estimates (US women 21–65, Facebook feed),
via the API across 400+ interest pairs.
“Narrower” isn’t automatically “better” — test it.
